How Evolve evaluates it

Hair loss has many possible causes, so your visit starts with questions: when you first noticed it, whether it’s gradual thinning or sudden shedding, your family history, recent illness, stress, pregnancy, diet and the medicines you take. Your provider also looks at your scalp and the pattern of thinning.

When your history points to an underlying cause, lab work may be recommended, for example to check thyroid function or iron levels. Your provider then talks through a personalized plan if one is appropriate, which may include Alma TED or another option, and follow-up to see how you’re responding.

What causes thinning hair?

Many things can. Pattern hair loss, which tends to run in families, is a common cause. Hormonal changes, pregnancy, stress, illness, thyroid problems, low iron, some medicines and tight hairstyles can also play a part, and more than one cause can overlap.
